These regulations should be read in conjunction with the General Academic Regulations for Undergraduate Degrees hereinafter referred to as the General Regulations of the Reformed Church University (RCU).

Learning Outcomes:

The Bachelor of Theology Honours Degree Conventional Full Time programme is a four (4) year pre-service programme of study designed for A Level certificate holders interested in serving as Ministers of Religion. The programme intents:

  • To produce an ideal graduate Minister for the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe (RCZ) and various denominations in any given context.

  • To produce graduate ministers able to contextualise Biblical theology in any given context.

  • To produce students with understanding of the Christian nature of theology (Christian and Reformed spirituality).

  • To prepare students for the professional ministry of the RCZ, other denominations and para-church organisations.  They should be able to recognise the significant issues in the context in which they minister (HIV-AIDS, social injustice etc).

  • To equip the students with transformational skills of studying for a wide range of post-graduate courses that address the needs of their nation and the world at large.

  • To equip students with the understanding of the unique context of congregational ministry.


The Bachelor of Theology Honours Degree is a four (4) year conventional full time programme designed to academically and spiritually equip prospective ministers called to congregational ministry and others who wish to acquire a professional qualification.  The target group are students who wish to: prepare for congregational ministry, upgrade their academic status, act as Christian leaders in para-Church and ecumenical organisations or in society in general and intend caring for people in need.


Four (4) years full time conventional programme.

Three (3) years block release in-service programme.


To be admitted to the programme, candidates must be in possession of a minimum of five O-levels including English and at least an E in Mathematics plus recognised diploma in Theology and or Religious Studies or an A-level certificate with passes in Divinity and any two of the following subjects: English, Shona / Ndebele, Sociology.  Such A-level certificate must be authenticated by ZIMSEC to be genuine. (Applicants with foreign qualifications need to provide proof of authenticity of their certificates).


Holders of other qualifications may be admitted by Senate, subject to availability of places.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) will be considered on a case-to-case basis.
