Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Accounting

Duration of The Programme

Fours (4) years conventional full-time programme

Three (3) years block release programme

Entry Requirements

To be admitted into the Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting Honours a candidate must normally have:

At least five (5) O-Level passes at grade C or better including English and Mathematics. In addition a candidate must have at least two (2) ‘A’ level subject passes which include Accounting, Mathematics, Management of Business, Economics and Geography.

Special Entry

Candidates who have successfully completed a Diploma in Accounting or have obtained equivalent qualifications may apply for direct entry into Part II of the degree programme, subject to availability of places

Programme Structure

Each candidate is required to study a minimum total of forty (40) courses over four (4) years.

Each course in part one and two worth ten (10) credits and for Work Related Learning courses, Work-Related Learning Action Report (HACC 301) worth sixteen (16) credits, Work-Related Learning Employer Assessment (HACC 302) worth twenty-nine (29) credits and Work-Related Learning Academic Supervisor’s Assessment (HACC 303) worth seventy-five (75) credits. Part four courses each worth eleven credits and Dissertation (HACC 420), weighs twenty-two (22) credits.

A candidate is expected to accumulate a minimum of four hundred and eighty (480) credit and a maximum of five hundred and six (506) credit points to be considered to have met the requirements of the Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting Honours.

Bachelor Of Commerce In Banking And Finance (Honours)

Duration of The Programme

Four (4) years full time programme.

To qualify for entry into the programme a candidate must have passed five ordinary level subjects including English and Mathematics with grade “C” or better. In addition a candidate must have obtained a pass in any two ‘A’ level subjects such as Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Management of Business.

Have obtained a Diploma (complete qualification) in Banking and Finance or any other equivalent tertiary qualifications.

Special entry

Candidates who have successfully completed the Higher National Diploma in Banking and Finance or have obtained equivalent qualifications may apply for direct entry into Part II of the degree programme, subject to availability of places.

Entry Requirements

To qualify for entry into the programme a candidate must have passed five ordinary level subjects including English and Mathematics as is prescribed in the general regulations. In addition a candidate must have obtained a pass in any two ‘A’ level subjects such as Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Management of Business, Geography, and Computer Science and other related subjects

OR

Have obtained a National Diploma (complete qualification) in Marketing or any other equivalent tertiary qualifications with marketing orientation.

SPECIAL ENTRY

Candidates who have successfully completed the Higher National Diploma in Marketing or obtained equivalent qualifications may apply for direct entry into Part II of the degree programme.

Entry Requirements

To be admitted into the Business Management Degree programme a candidate must have passed five ordinary level subjects including English and any other subjects deemed necessary by the host department .In addition a candidate must have at least two ‘A’ level subjects

OR

Have obtained a Diploma (complete qualification) in management or any other equivalent tertiary qualifications with Management bias or have worked as a Business Practitioner or Manager for more than ten years.

SPECIAL ENTRY

Candidates who have successfully completed the Higher National Diploma in Management or obtained equivalent qualifications may apply for direct entry into Part II of the degree programme.

In addition a candidate must have obtained a pass in any two ‘A’ level subjects such as Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Management of Business, Geography, History, Shona, Ndebele, Food Science, and Computer Science.

Have obtained a National Diploma (complete qualification) in Human Resources Management or any other equivalent tertiary qualifications.

SPECIAL ENTRY

Candidates who have successfully completed the Higher National Diploma in Human Resources Management or have obtained equivalent qualifications may apply for direct entry into Part II of the degree programme, subject to availability of places.

Duration of The Programme

Entry Requirements

To qualify for entry into the programme a candidate must have passed five ordinary level subjects including English and Mathematics with grade “C” or better. In addition a candidate must have obtained a pass in any two ‘A’ level subjects such as Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Management of Business, Geography, and Computer Science.

Have obtained a Diploma (complete qualification) in Logistics and supply chain Management/purchase and supply or any other equivalent tertiary qualifications.

Special entry

Candidates who have successfully completed the Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management/Purchase and Supply or have obtained equivalent qualifications may apply for direct entry into Part II of the degree programme, subject to availability of places.

Career Prospects

Graduates have a wider choice of career paths in all sectors of the economy such as senior managers on policy makers in transport, purchasing, logistics, shopping and forwarding, customers and supply chain related jobs in commerce, industry, government, NGOs as well as international organisations like SADC, COMESA, AU, UN and World Bank , as procurement managers/specialists, freight forwarders, transport and Global logistics managers, warehouse managers, exports and administration managers, imports and complaints managers, logistics and Distribution centre managers, logistics and transport consultants, procurements consultants, Inventory Planner, logistics analyst and researchers . They can also set up their own business as entrepreneurs.

To qualify for entry into the programme a candidate must have passed five ordinary level subjects including English and Mathematics as prescribed the faculty regulations. In addition a candidate must have obtained a pass in any two ‘A’ level subjects such as Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Management of Business, Geography, and Computer Science and other related subjects

OR

Have obtained a National Diploma (complete qualification) in management or any other equivalent tertiary qualifications with Public administration orientation.

SPECIAL ENTRY

Candidates who have successfully completed the Higher National Diploma in Public Administration or have obtained equivalent qualifications may apply for direct entry into Part II of the degree programme, subject to availability of places

Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Public Administration (BcomPAD) is a four year programme leading to professional careers such as Administrative Officers, Front line service providers, policy analysts and those preparing for employment and advancement in, provincial or municipal government, social agencies and other public or non-profit organizations.

Programme Structure

The curriculum for Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Public Administration (BcomPAD) comprises of at least forty (40) courses, including a work-related learning report, continuous assessment at work and a dissertation equivalent to twenty-two (22) credit points. Each course is worth eleven (11) credits.

Entry Requirements

To be admitted into the MBA programme a candidate must have a relevant first Degree passed with upper second class. These degrees include BCom Business Management; BCom Marketing; BCom Human Resources Management; BCom Public Administration and any other relevant first degrees from recognized higher learning institutions.

NOTE

Enrolment is open for April and August all round the Year for both Masvingo and Harare Campuses (need verification with the registry on deadlines of Applications)

The curriculum for MBA comprises of at least fourteen (14) courses, and a dissertation. The student is expected to accumulate a minimum of three hundred and sixty (360) credit points and maximum of three hundred and seventy-four (380) credits to be considered to have met the requirements of the Master in Business Administration (MBA).

Dissertation = 48 credits
